'One Tree Hill' Soundtrack CD to Benefit Breast Cancer
The popular WB teen focused series is releasing its second soundtrack of pop music on February 7, 2006, titled "Friends With Benefit".
For the first time in television history, a storyline on a TV series will result in a soundtrack album. After inhabitants of Tree Hill are stricken by cancer, their friends and neighbors stage a concert and create a modern-rock compilation album to raise money to fight the disease. This season on "One Tree Hill," Peyton Sawyer (series regular Hilarie Burton) began to build a relationship with her birth mother Ellie (guest star Sheryl Lee), who recently reappeared in her life and revealed she was battling breast cancer.
That album, on the show and in real life, is One Tree Hill, Vol.2-and a substantial portion of its proceeds will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Association, which is excited about the opportunity to raise awareness about early detection and target the show's core demographic - young women.
