Sheryl Crow Undergoes Breast Cancer Treatment
The 44 year old Grammy winning singer released a surprising statement via her publicist yesterday, saying she is recovering from breast cancer surgery and doctors have assured her she should make a full recovery.
Sheryl Crow underwent a procedure on Wednesday, February 22.
In a statement posted on her Web site, Crow called the surgery "minimally invasive" and said she will be undergoing radiation treatment as a precaution. She said she benefited from early detection, and urged other women to have themselves checked.
Crow's former fiance, cycling champion Lance Armstrong, said in a statement Friday night that he was "devastated" by her illness.
"Once again I'm reminded of just how pervasive this illness (Cancer) is, as it has now touched someone I love deeply," said Armstrong, who is a survivor of testicular cancer.
Lance Armstrong said he had contact with Sheryl Crow in recent days, as well as her doctors, and expects her to make a full recovery.
Sheryl Crow's official statement on her website, meanwhile, urged people to get more information from the LIVESTRONG Organization and Survivor Care group that Armstrong founded.
Obviously, no love lost between the separated couple.
Sheryl Crow was also forced to cancel her Thursday concert at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo after surgery for breast cancer.
Melissa Etheridge, a breast cancer survivor, will perform in her place.
Crow also postponed her other upcoming Tour dates in March and April, and plans to reschedule them as soon as possible.
