Black Friday Goes Pink This Holiday Season

It seems as though this holiday season is inspiring shoppers to shop for the cause yet again, as pink ribbon products and awareness items that donate to breast cancer research continue to be popular since the 2008 Breast Cancer Awareness Month ended. Let the holiday spirit of giving begin!

Now, just in time for the holiday shopping season, you can save big, score some killer electronics and tech gadgets for the geeks you love, while supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation and shopping for a good cause.

As Black Friday is typically a self-serving day for retailers to try and make as much money as possible, one retail group has decided to paint Black Friday pink. CompUSA and TigerDirect, leading retailers of consumer electronics and technology products, are branding November 28 as “Pink Friday” for the second year in a row and expect to raise more than $250,000 from a portion of total sales and from customer donations to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest breast cancer organization.

In addition to a minimum guaranteed donation from CompUSA and TigerDirect, customers can get involved in the following ways:

Customers will have the opportunity to donate $1, $5, $10 or $20 on top of their in-store or on-site purchase to Komen for the Cure.
A live webcast will be available on www.CompUSA.com and www.TigerDirect.com from 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. in which limited quantities of products will be sold at 50 percent off their list price, with the full proceeds of the sale products going directly to Komen.

Then, set yourself a reminder to shop online at one of these stores between 8 AM & 5 PM on Friday, November 28th.

No word yet on specific products offered in the promotion, but there should be plenty to choose from, as both online stores have a huge selection of computer accessories, digital cameras, MP3 players, video game consoles and popular video games like Guitar Hero, digital picture frames and more.
