Serta Mattress & Pink Ribbon Plushies

One of the first to lead the pink season push, Serta is jumping on the breast cancer bandwagon long before October. Pledging $290,000 to the Susan G. Komen foundation, in the 2006 campaign, "Counting Sheep for the Cure". Serta is also offering a free pink ribbon plush sheep when you order a mattress before September 30th.

And so it begins... the debate over who Corporate Breast Cancer Fundraising

Every year around this time, the cycle of criticism begins... Complaints run rampant about corporate fundraising just being more of a farce than actual contributions.

According to a recent Canadian report on breast cancer fundraising, "About one-third of money donated to breast-cancer fundraisers in some cases is not funnelled into research," and that "corporate-sponsored breast cancer fundraising has become a market-driven industry focused less on research and more on profit."

It was a fairly interesting interview, where she talked candidly for the first time about her experience as a breast cancer survivor, and dealing with that personally for quite a while before going public. Of course, her breast cancer was detected in a very early stage, but oddly, she says, there was no family history of breast cancer. And yes, her relationship and breakup with Lance Armstrong, and how he helped her deal with the cancer diagnosis.
