In ongoing support of the fight against breast cancer, Macy's 2006 "For the Love of Her Life" program will once again raise dollars in September and October for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). The campaign will include contributions from the sale of limited edition Gund plush labradoodle dogs, a Gund plush teddy bear, and exclusive Frango(R) Pink Mint Chocolates.
"Finding a cure for breast cancer is a cause that is critically meaningful to our customers and employees," says Ronnie Taffet, Vice President, Macy's Corporate Marketing. "The 'For the Love of Her Life' program has been very successful in our stores over the last three years. Our customers respond enthusiastically to this cause, and their altruism and generosity resulted in $700,000 for BCRF in 2005. This year we're aiming even higher."
The limited edition breast cancer merchandise includes two Gund plush labradoodles, a Gund plush teddy bear, and Frango Pink Mint Chocolates.
The Gund plush labradoodle dogs will be sold in Macy's Cosmetics departments for $12, with $5.75 from each sale going to BCRF. The labradoodle comes in two colors: "Grace" in gold, and "Courage" in brown. Both wear bandannas printed with the pink ribbon and paw prints, and each dog features the pink ribbon symbol embroidered on one paw.
The Gund plush teddy bear will be sold throughout our stores for $12, with $4.25 from each sale going to BCRF. The "Hope" bear wears a pink hoodie and also features the pink ribbon embroidery on one paw.
Macy's will also carry exclusive, limited edition Frango Pink Mint Chocolates throughout the store for $8, with 50 cents going to BCRF. The mints come in a 1/3-pound box featuring a design by Miranda Moss, a Minneapolis artist and cancer survivor. These will be sold beginning in September through Mother's Day.
