I Met Deanna Favre when the Packers Whooped Denver in OT
Holy cow, how time flies and I realized I didn't spend any time last fall updating the blog, with the wedding and all. Since we chose to get married during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, things were pretty crazy. And we took most of the month for the honeymoon.
We did, however, cap off our honeymoon with amazing seats for the Denver-Green Bay Packers Monday Night Football game October 29, 2007. You know, it was probably one of the most amazing games in Brett Favre's career - where he threw for 90 or so yards in OVERTIME to Greg Jennings to win the game. My cheesehead hubby was over the moon.
Those amazing seats? Yea, they were the next section over from where Deanna Favre and her pack of "pink ladies" - her lifelong girlfriends in pink brett favre jerseys -were sitting.
Since I had made an "October is 4 Breast Cancer Awareness" month pink sign for the game, we were also shown on ESPN's Halftime show, when Deanna was up in the booth talking about awareness (notably for Male Breast cancer as well -perfect use of the captive male audience) and promoting her book, Don't Bet against Me!: Beating the Odds Against Breast Cancer and in Life
Deanna is the last one holding the sign on the far left, wearing a gray shawl, not a pink Brett Farve jersey.
Not the greatest picture, but the woman sitting to the right of my husband is from near where he grew up in wisconsin, AND a breast cancer survivor herself. (he's looking down, answering calls about us being on TV)
So, when i got that picture of the crew - Deanna Farve autographed my sign "God Bless" and I told her what a great spokesperson she's been for the cause, and that my mom had already beat breast cancer as well.
